About Mary Hellstrom, LMFT
I am here to provide support and guidance to you on your healing journey as we work through your concerns regarding sex, sexuality, relationships, and trauma. I offer a safe and compassionate space for members of the LGBTQ community. My goal is to empower you to find the confidence, strength, and hope you need within yourself.
Hi, I am Mary Hellstrom, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.
Are you looking for a compassionate, confidential, and welcoming space to discuss your concerns regarding sex, sexuality, relationships, or past trauma? Are you currently processing your gender-identity or sexual-identity and need a warm and affirming place to do so? Do you sometimes experience shame when it comes to the expression of your sexuality?
First, I want you to know that you are absolutely not alone. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and collaborative space for us to begin working through these concerns together on your path to greater healing, wholeness, and fulfillment in your life. Many individuals with these concerns may feel stuck, looking for ways to experience more satisfying and mindful sex in their relationships. Others may find that anxiety, depression, insecurity, or trauma is linked to the relational and/or sexual difficulty in their lives. My experience has taught me that, while these challenges may be painful and confusing, they can also serve as a doorway to your healing, growth, and greater fulfillment.
As a Marriage & Family Therapist, I have worked with clients of different ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, and religious and spiritual beliefs for more than 5 years. My therapeutic style has often been described as warm, attentive, and compassionate- and I strive to maintain a posture of openness, curiosity, respect, and cultural competency in every facet of my work.
I believe the body and mind are intricately linked and may incorporate breathing, mindfulness, and visualization therapies into our work in order to include both the body and mind in your healing process. I also utilize elements of various approaches, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, in my practice and will work to tailor the therapeutic experience to best meet your needs.
Regardless of your current struggles, I will meet you exactly where you are with compassion and a commitment to helping you move forward and out of your shame, fear, confusion, or difficulty. I am eager to meet you and hear your story as we begin to work together toward healing and greater wholeness in your life!
