Gender Health
When you don’t feel at home in your body, everything can seem more difficult. Additionally, the idea of letting people know the real you can be daunting, especially if you worry they won’t understand. Our goal is to create a safe space where you can explore your identity, ensuring you can get access to critical information that can help you come out or begin a transition. If you are experiencing gender dysphoria, questioning your gender, and feeling uncomfortable with your body, and do not identify with your designated sex at birth, our therapists are trained to provide gender-affirming interventions and assist you during your medical or social transition, if that is your desire. We adhere to WPATH guidelines and frequently write gender affirmation letters to assist with your medical transition, including top surgery or gender confirmation surgeries.
Counseling with a gender specialist can help you to:
- Create a plan for addressing your transition with your support system and other networks
- Develop comfort in expressing your preferred gender identity and expression
- Provide you with support around social or medical transition
- Identify coping strategies for dealing with social stigma, including identifying safety factors to coming out and asserting your preferred pronouns
- Explore the impact of your desired medical interventions on your sexual functioning and intimate relationships
- Build confidence to affirm and express your gender identity and sexuality
- Assist with making an informed decision regarding your fertility
